Is there a way to call someone up and tell them to put fiber optic wiring for our house?
Only if it is offered in your area. Verizon is the one making the big push right now.
It has to be in your area, just having it in your house is not enough, there has to be supporting hardware in the area as well.
Be careful through, when they put the FIOS in, they cut the copper at the curb. Which means, Once you have FIOS you can not go back.
They don't tell you that they do but there is a huge class action law suit now for that very reason. Not everyone who has FIOS is happy with it.
