Whats a safe temperature to run my amd 6400+ cpu?
I do have a heatsink/fan combo and my cpu temperature is at 123 degrees farenheit, which according to my motherboard program is in the green, but im still a little nervous as i just built this computer days ago (first time builder) and spent alot of money on this. if this is not cool enough what can i do to decrease the heat issue?
I installed a heatsink because my cpu did not come with one. how exactly does liquid cooling work? I have one spot open for a 120mm fan at the back that im going to put one in and have it pull out, should that help?
i did apply paste, it came with white paste though and really i was scared i put too much on there not know an appropriate amount
Congratulations on your first build.
That temperature should be fine. If you have used the stock heatsink, then it should be good enough.
If your temperatures are over 70C (158F) under load then thats when you have a problem...
Im just curious... did you use thermal paste (the grey stuff on the bottom of the heatsink) when you installed the cpu?
If you cleaned it off or you did not use it, turn off your new computer immediately!!! Buy new thermal paste and apply it between the CPU! Its very important to have thermal paste between the CPU and heatsink otherwise the cpu will overheat!!!

By the way... dont bother with liquid cooling... it requires ALOT of maintenance and if things go wrong (water leaks), then entire components could be fried.
