How do I connect my laptop to wired internet using ethernet?
My laptop is a dell inspiron 1525(running vista Premium) and the wireless works fine. my desktop is a dell running xp and uses a wired internet connection(cable modem). I tried to plug my laptop to the router via ethernet and I dont know where to go from there. nothing pops up.what setting do I need to change/ what do I open to aknowledge the cable on the laptop? plz help
Go into your network connections and where the Local Area Connection is go into it's properties, then into the TCP/IP settings, change it so it automatically assigns and IP address, this should fix it, if not read the instruction booklet/use the setup disc.
