what is the difference between the xbox 360 elite, pro, and premium?
Also, do you think that the memory difference is an issue? And would it be a poor decision to buy a refurbished xbox 360 if it had a 90 day warantee?
the elite version comes with a 120 gig hard drive, which is honestly too much, because microsoft doesnt let you load movies or music onto the hard as freely as the ps3 does. also that version is black.
the premium version is the old, medium level system, which comes with a 20 gig hard drive, that in my opinion is too small, because when you first get it, 9 gigs are taken up by system information.
the pro is probably the best one there is for the value. it comes with a 60 gig hard drive, that is probably still a little bigger than you would ever really need, but i say better to have it a bit bigger than too small.
other than the memory difference, i think the elite version is the only one that comes packaged with ah hdmi cable, but i think thats the only difference, i spent the extra hundred bucks on an elite, and kinda regret it.
if you really think you can get by with the 20 gig hard drive, then theres no real reason to spend more money on more memory, but for me at least, i like having extra.
a refurbished unit (assuming ir was refurbished my miscrosoft itself) is probably ok to get, but for peace of mind, you should try and make sure that it has the newer chipset inside it, which was introduced around this time last year. its much less prone to overheating, or the dreaded 'red ring of death' (rrod). the most surefire way to tell the difference, is if you look at the power supply, the old units have a 203 watt power supply, and the hew ones have a 175 watt power supply. there are a couple of other things you can use to tell, but the poer supply is the most reliable way to tell.
that said, given the 360's notorious hardware failure raite, a refurbished unit would probably ne no more likely to fail than thier new ones, so yeah i say go for it.
but yeah i would reccomend getting a ps3 anyway. for that the 60 gig version is the best
