My external hard drive lost power suddenly?
My external hard drive (Seagate freeagent) suddenly lost power.
Can someone please tell me if this can be fixed, and if so how? Is there something I can do myself? your advice would be greatly appreciated. I have some very important files on this hard drive.
I already tried using a different power outlet and a different power cord to the hard drive itself and its still dead.
I have seen this problem several times, 90% of the time replacing the external hard-drive enclosures fixes the problem. The enclosures sell for around $45. The electronics in the external hard-drive enclosures are prone to failure.
