Dell Vostro 1700 series, are they worth investing in?
Vostro is a brand new product line in Dell, just introduced this year.
Because of this, this line has many, many, many problems. There was an ENTIRE shipment in the US of desktop Vostro that went out with the wrong video card. And we are about to discover how many other mistakes they have done with them....
Furthermore, most of them where shipped wit Vista. Many customers didn't like Vista, OR really couldn't use the software they need to work on Vista and they downgraded their systems to XP. Guess what??? Some hardware components in their Vostro don't have a driver availabe for XP, only for Vista. I'm not sure and positive if any model of Vostro can be sold with XP.
Regarding to your question... I believe that NOW is not the best moment to invest in ANY Vostro series. They are not reliable enough yet. Maybe they will be in the future, but just not now.
