My dell laptop fan is really loud, what do I do?
Okay, I know everyone is gonna tell me to use compressed air but I've literally run through about 2 cans trying to clean the dust out but the laptop fan is still making a very loud noise. And I can't take it apart because two of my screws are screwed on too tightly so I can't try to get a better look at the fan. The fan does this even when the laptop isn't hot. It just started doing this one morning and it never did this before. It's a dell Latitude D630 and it's only about a 1.5 years old.
My wife's laptop has recently started doing the same thing and started to overheat then shutdown. I've tried the compressed air and it didn't help. After taking it apart for a closer inspection, I found that there was an accumulation of lint that had completely covered the path from the fan to the processor. Thus the fan was consistently running to try and cool the processor off. Now the bearings have gone bad and a loud grinding noise can be heard during the use of the computer. There are a few contributing factors that can contribute to this such as placing the computer on your lap,bed,carpet floor, or any place that lint is present. The best advice I can give you is to try and get those last two screws of and get the fan replaced. Your going to be looking around $40 for a refurbished one.
