Can I Use The Same HeatSink/Fan?
I have a Dell Inspirson 531 & I'm upgrading from a AMD SEMPRON Processor LE-1250 2.20 GHz to a AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ Brisbane 2.6GHz Socket AM2 Dual-Core Processor will I be able to use the same heatsink/fan? Your advice would be appreciated as I have spent all day trying to find the heatsink specs and even went to Dells site and still can't locate the fan specs that I already have in my pc.. Seems like I read somewhere it has 2 cpu fans not sure as I can't locate the link I seen earlier. Thanks.
William: Thank you I did that last night. So I know it's going to work I was just worried about the fan overheating.
The Athlon 64 X2 5000+ Brisbane CPU is only 65 watts and Your old AMD SEMPRON Processor LE-1250 CPU is 45 watts. you will be fine with your old heat sink and fan combo. Just make sure you use good quality heat sink compound and also make sure that you clean the heat sink and remove ALL of the old heat sink compound before you apply the new compound.
