My fan on my dell latitude cpx h500gt laptop wont spin?
im not sure whats wrong with it but i realy need help one one day i turned the laptop on and it froze on me and i found out it was my fan it overheated my cpu.what should i do

There could be a couple of things that could be causing that, Worst case senario... it is possible that something on your mainboard overheated and it is now unable to tell the fan to turn on (Mainboard is in this case more or less trashed).
second possiblility would be that the fan itself is either wedged or otherwise defect, which means a problem unless you trust yourself to tear your latitude apart to the smallest pieces to change the fan and then put it all back together again.
Lastly what could possibly be the problem is that the BIOS needs an update. I am not familiar with the cpx h500gt, but I know the cpx J inside and out, and they had a similar problem with the fan a couple years back and it was fixed with a new BIOS update to 16A.
the first thing to check on is if you have the latest BIOS update, first, when you start your latitude, on the beginning when all you see is a black screen and the blue Dell logo somewhere on the screen should be something like "BIOS version 16A". Write that down and simply go to www.dell.com and look under support/downloads and enter your product & model type. next step enter your operating system (ie. WinXP) and click on "search for downloads". After that, there should be a list of availible download catagories, one entry should be FlashBIOS. There you can find all the BIOS downloads. Download the current (!!! if you dont already have the current installed !!!) and follow the instructions.
