I need some help testing CPU and Motherboard..?
i need alittle Help pls.. I just brought a Abit IP43 and I already had a Intel Pentium 4 dual core 800mhz processor. I set it all up and Nothing, No post etc, I have memory in, GPU, after tests I know its the Motheboard or CPU, the motherboard was brought on Ebay. I dont know what do.. So i if you can answer these few questions im sure I can find my problem..
Question 1: WHat would happen if I tested the Dual core in a Single core motherboard? "will it blow cpu or board Or simply Not loads?" I only have a single core 775 motherboard to test..
Question 2: On the Motherboards info it says "Designed for Intel® socket 775 processors with 1333MHz FSB" But the CPU i have is dual core 800 MHz FSB.. Will this stop the processor working on motherboard?
I am so confused... I dont understand why its not posting.. The CPU and Motherboard looks new..
need to know what the "dual Core" and single core cpu you have is.
The board will run dual core cpu's that have a maximum bus speed of 1333MHz, it is backward compatible for lower bus speeds, though the abit website is not particularly helpful on specific CPUs that are approved for the board, it does however not mention the single core processors.
The 800MHz FSB Dual Core should work in this board, but I would not run your older P4 single core as you may damage it. Whilst the voltage should be the same the bus speed is at best going to 800MHz and probably less.
