Can anyone recommend me a better CPU processor?
I have at the moment Pentium(R) D CPU 3.40ghz, dual core and apparently it's outdated now, my cpu socket is LGA 775, can anyone recommend be a better CPU processor for a GIGABYTE motherboard, maximum price I'd go for is about £100.

What model Gigabyte motherboard?
Edit: According to the Gigabyte website, that board can accept Core 2 Duo, and Core 2 Quad processors.
Basically, the CPU benchmark score on the second site below, states that anything Dual-core or better will out perform your processor.
For a whacking great boost (Double the score), a 3Ghz E8400 1333FSB 6Mb Cache C2Duo goes for about £127.
An E7300 2.66Ghz 1066FSB 3Mb Cache C2Duo comes in at £97.
For a QX9770 processor (The fastest you can use in that board), you are looking at the best part of a grand. Performance would be stunning, but your wallet wouldn't be thanking you.
Make sure you get a retail boxed set (like below links) as these come with a stock heatsink and fan. (Unless you are buying your own).
Also note that you won't get the best performance if your ram isn't at the same speed as your processors FSB. You can go for the higher FSB processor and upgrade to your maximum 2GB of higher speed RAM at a later date, it will still work fine, just not quite as fast as it could.
