Cleaning Apple PowerBook?
Ok, the deal is this, 3 year old PowerBook G4 1.25ghz. The kid I was watching for a friend managed to spill cereal w/milk onto the laptop while it was open. wasn't a huge spill, but sugary milk leaked around the touchpad, and into the latch mechanism that holds the screen shut. Now the screen release button is extremely difficult to push in, and the mouse button doesn't work particularly well.
I'd like to know if I can just pop off cover, and take a damp rag, and some static-free towels to clean it out, or do i need to have a computer repair shop do it?

I've the same computer, and the same situation, but I've spilled tea on the keyboard.
Off topic. You can deep your computer in water, and it will work, but you have to make sure that it is COMPLETELY dry before turning it on.
Just remove the keyboard, get some rubbing alcohol (or simply pour a shot of vodka) and q-tips. Dip the q-tip in a shot glass (don't emerge it completely inside), and clean your keyboard, especially in places where you see sticky residue. Alcohol will quickly destroy the glucose molecules.
After you are done (it is very time consuming), let your keyboard air dry for a a period of time and make sure alcohol completely evaporated. Then put your mac together and turn it on. Should work like a charm.
