How to repair cable connector of the CRT TV?
I have a two-year-old CRT Toshiba TV, and very occasionally watched. Recently when I tried to move it, I forgot to unscrew the cable from the back panel of TV first. So the cable (antenna connector) was ripped off from the TV. I know it is definitely not worth sending it to repair shop. Can I do it on my own? Is it a very complicated fix? Is that connector connecting with other components or circuit inside? Appreciate for any suggestion.
You'd have to open up the case and perhaps own a soldering iron, but otherwise it's doable. But, I have a free and easy workaround. Take a cable-ready VCR, perhaps one that chews tapes or something, and run the unit's video out to your TV's video in. Voila! You've now got a new cable-ready 125 channel tuner as long as you keep your TV set to aux/input. Too bad you'll also have two remotes! I used this trick to make my old click-knob set work w/ a remote and add the A/V jack I needed for a PS1.
