ATX computer power supply...?
I'm building my first PC, and I think something is wrong with my power supply. The light on my motherboard comes on, but not devices get power, and the PS fans doesn't come on. I have a multimeter. How can I check it?
If the light on you mobo is near the memory sticks, it is a warning light. Don't remove any memory sticks while it is lit. Do the PS fans come on when you turn the supply on? Unplug the mobo if you try this, but leave the drives and fans plugged in. The current reading that you should get is 12 volts, that is the output. When you plug the supply in does the CPU fan make a revolution or two? The supply could be no good. Did it come with your case? Get yourself a power source with a wattage of at least 400 to allow yourself room for upgrading. Don't spend less than $40 for a power supply. Those are usually junk.
