Compaq Armanda E500?
Hi there.I have a Compaq Armanda E500 Laptop.Whenever i insert any disc, the drive is unable to read it.Do i have to change the Drive.Can i use an external CD ROm Drive for it.Currenty, my OS is Windows 98SE.Thanks
You can try and clean the disk drive with some compressed air. There may be a dust bunny or two in the drive bay covering up the laser. It maybe the system took a knock and the laser is out of alignment too.
You did not say if the drive light comes on and / or the disk is spinning up. If neither of these things are happening then the drive is dead and you will have to get it repaired / replaced or use an external drive.
