Which Comcast cable channels can I view with a QAM enabled TV tuner?
I just ordered Comcast digital cable and I am considering purchasing a TV tuner card for my PC. I need to determine out if a QAM enabled card would be worth the extra money. Basically I'm trying to figure out which channels I can view/record *without* a QAM enabled card and which channels I can view/record *with* a QAM enabled card.
Without QAM, you will only be able to record the analog channels, which on Comcast are usually the lower-numbered channels (up to one hundred and something). You will not be able to record any HD channels, in particular. A clear-QAM tuner would allow you to record unscrambled HD, typically your local broadcast stations.
