Is it possible to create a one man flying machine using air and battery power?
Can you build a flight machine, about the same diameter as a large truck tyre with a half sphere on the bottom, inclusive in this is a large battery supply obviously not too heavy and coupled with small lightweight brushless motors hooked up to a few micro concentrated fan blades for maximum stability.
What would the fan output measured in km per hour need to be for each fan to lift the machine and the human, human roughly 80kg and machine roughly 40kg from my estimations, and thats if i use a cheap hardened plastic instead of aluminium.
also, what kind of stabilization methods could be used for this? I'm thinking along the lines of whats built into the itouch along with a small equation hooked up to a slightly more advanced alternator to then periodically change the power from each motor to account for a change in wwight/wind and the obvious one, the instability of using fans instead of say jet propultion.
Whats the verdict, i've been thinking about this for some time.
why are fans (usually called propellers) more unstable than jets? before 1950 or so, every airplane was propelled by propellers.
You seem to want a vertical takeoff aircraft, which is probably not possible as it would take a lot more power than a conventional fixed wing aircraft.
Stabilization of a helicopter is difficult and takes a lot of special mechanics. Look up helicopter control on the internet.
Stick with a conventionally configured aircraft with a propeller in front, you will have a much better chance of success.
