Is the Integrated Sound Blaster® Audigy™HD Software Edition audio upgrade worth it?
For my laptop, the Sound Blaster "Software Edition" was one of the listed upgrades. I realize this is not a physical sound card but a software application that will supposedly improve the sound quality? I'm just wondering, is this $23 upgrade worth it or not?
Here is deal with that sound card. Creative(makers of Sound Blaster) has agreed to make a integrated OEM version of Sound Blaster Audigy HD for that company who you are buying your notebook from.
Like many other OEM products this probably will be hacked up a little bit in order to be integrated with the notebook's motherboard. So what this means is it's not exactly the same thing as a original Sound Blaster Audigy HD that Creative sales.
It still uses most of the technology, however is still isn't a 100% same as the original.
So with that being said I would say buy it if you only enjoy good sound. I personally love my sound card and will never build another computer without one. But that is because I'm also a musician who values good sound.
If you choose not to buy the Sound Blaster then it isn't like you will have absolutly terrible sound. But it will sound like a regular TV speaker output.
Edit* The software by the way is nothing with out the correct hardware. You can always buy a another sound application as mentioned by above poster.
