What would cause a Sound Blaster Audigy card to screech when installed on a Biostar M7NCG 400 motherboard?
I have a Biostar M&NCG 400 motherboard and on it I have a Sound Blaster Audigy sound card (PCI). The sound card screeches fiercely during some games. It does not screech when playing system sounds. I thought it was a wire from the fan resting on the sound card and emitting static but that is not it. Any ideas?
Guess what. I sold and installed more of those boards than any motherboard in my shop -- ever. At least over 200 or so. First, you only have 2 PCI slots under the AGP slot as the one directly under the AGP card should be left unpopulated. Secondly -- it sound like what you're describing is the Creative "screech of death" that was very common with Audigy and Audigy 2 cards (usually non ZS) and some older SB lives that were also capable of real hardware acceleration with the onboard DSP -- try moving it to another PCI slot. Also make sure onboard audio is disabled. IF that fails try disabling something unused in the bios like your serial ports to free up and IRQ then remove your drivers with add/remove then driver cleaner-
