i have a BIOS question?
When I reboot my pc the black screen before windows says fan chip speed to low and says i can disable this warning when the speed is fine but how?I'm running a homebuilt windows xp pro 32 bit
system

Check the setting about the cpu fan in the BIOS cpu fan is slo how do i check to see what the setting is and what setting is it sapose to be?Also how do you know if a BIOS update is needed?
Go into the BIOS by pressing the setup key, usually DEL, F2 or F12 during startup...
At the top of the page will be the BIOS version, you can change settings in there which include settings for the fan and warnings etc...close and save changes when you have finished or exit without saving if you are not sure
You could consider updating the BIOS - go to the Asus site and see if there is a more recent BIOS that you can upgrade to - there will probably be some software you can download to help you do the upgrade - there will be instructions on the website - make sure you get the right BIOS for the specific Mobo that you are using.
Finally, if you think there may actually be a problem with the the fan, get a new one, they are not expensive... I think I am right in saying that if your mobo is monitoring fan speed, then there will be three wires connecting the fan rather than the usual two - if you replace it and want the fan speed to be monitored, then make sure you get one with the three wires - I think this could be the AMD cool'n'quiet settings - but I am no expert on fans...you can probably get cool'n'quiet software/driver downloads from the Asus website too - that might be worth considering too...

check the links above the eBay ads for Asus downloads, you may have to navigate to the right page once you are on the Asus site - like I say make absolutely sure you are downloading files for the correct MOBO...
