If you send you computer out to be fixed, will the company erase the memory?
I own a Dell Inspiron, and it has suffered from some physical damage. The hinge covers have bent and begun to separate. They do not click back together, and the hinges do not work properly. As a result, the screen just kind of flops back and forth. The screen will flicker to black, and then back to normal. Sometimes it will stay black and I have to restart. Basically, the screen and hinges need to be fixed, so I'm sending it to dell. What I want to know is if they will tamper with the hard drive or get rid of any files or programs etc. I don't see any reason why they would need to, but I want to know if I should start backing up my computer. And please don't tell me to get a Mac. I've heard that one far too many times. I would like a Mac, but I can't get one now. Thank you to anyone who is able to answer.
I don't think any reformatting is needed. There is nothing wrong with the actual hard drive, it's just the hinges that need fixing.
Fixed it like reformatting is needed? everything will be erased and you need a backup of your files. But as you described the problem does not affect your internal drives. Just to be sure make a back up of your files.
