Blue Screen with ASUS P5Q-SE2 & Windows 7?
Hello, i bought a new PC with the following configuration :
-Asus P5Q-SE2, Socket 775
-Kingston 2x2048MB DDR2, 800MHz
-Intel® CoreTM2 Quad Q8400 2.68GHz, socket 775 Box
-NVIDIA GeForce 9800GT, 1GB, DDR3, 64bit, PCI-E
-HDD Seagate Barracuda 500GB, 7200RPM, 16MB, SATA
-PSU iCute 500W, ATX
After installing win 7 Ultimate 32-bit was getting lots of bsod.I have update all the drivers (and validated its with DriverNet) and still got bsod.
I have go around with my problem, and do some basic test. I have used Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool to test the memory one by one, and no error found.
But when both off memory stick installed on Slot A1 & Slot B1, memtest produce error. I have dmp file and CPU-ID log as attached.
Please Help.
You want to populate slots 1&3 and skip slot 2&4. Asus especially, designs their motherboards for DDR2 to be populated like this. Otherwise, you loose dual channel and you can have these instability errors.
Make sure that your Voltage in BIOS is set to 1.80 Volts, and double check the specifications for the RAM. You can find out what kind of RAM by running Belarc Advisor which is a free utility:

I would also advise that you take a look at your boot up logs using Windows Computer Management, see Windows 7 Help on this...Here is the link on my computer or you can execute this from the RUN box:

You want to see the error logs which might lead you to the problem.
But my first suggestion is to get those memory sticks in the right configuration by putting them in Slots 1&3 if you just have two sticks, skip slots 2&4.
