What To Consider When Buying ATX Cases
When you decide you assemble your own PC there are different factors you have to consider. One of the main points to consider is the ATX case to use. Unlike in earlier times when all computer cases were standard, nowadays one has the power to choose any case he or she prefers. The choice for the ATX cases is determined by personal preference and the intended purpose for the computer. Therefore it is important for one to consider all the related factors such as office space, case material, the type of motherboard and the power supply unit among other factors.
The office or home space at your disposal normally determines the cases size you will opt for. However large cases present many advantages and therefore it is great if you opt for them. For instance, with these cases, the assembly process will be much simpler. The computer will also have better cooling for its interior components. If your office is small then you have to be content with smaller practical cases.
Another important thing that influences the size of the cases is the motherboard type used. This is because different types of motherboards might not fit every case. It is therefore important to check whether the case you are purchasing will be suitable for the motherboard you intend to use. The ATX form factors also play a big role here. Midi and tower form factors are great when you want to build a high-power gaming PC such as those with multiple hard drives. For general purpose PCs micro-ATX cases are perfect. Lastly if you want to build a PC that blends into your office space a Flex ATX is the best choice.
Power supply units determine the case you will go for. Most of the standard cases are equipped with power supply units. However, you can choose one that does not include the unit so as to choose a power supply that suits the power needs of the computer you want to build. This is normally the case with large cases since the smaller ones are meant for building standard PCs that rarely require extra power.
In terms of case material, the common option is a mixture of plastic and steel. However build quality and the cost are directly related. You can also get some sophisticated cases made from a combination of aluminum and plastic instead of steel. These cases are usually lighter hence great if you are normally on the move. The only problem with aluminum cases is that they are prone to vibrations hence they cannot build very quiet PCs.
When choosing the case it is important to think about the cooling factor. Large cases are better since they ensure better cooling. This in turn means the system will be more reliable and the components will last longer. A good example is when you are building a PC with multiple hard drives, a fast processor and a high-end graphics card. In this case you have to choose an ATX case that supports multiple fans.
The design is also important hence it should be ignored. Design includes different factors such as color, shape, complexity and quality. Normally the design quality is determined by the amount you are willing to pay for the case.
Remember, though the design is mostly related to the aesthetic effect of the case, you should ensure that the one you choose does not complicate the assembly process. The interior should also have no rough or sharp edges which might injure you. Considering all these areas during the purchase of the ATX cases will make it easier to get what you are looking for.
