Ways To Save Your Company Money On Text Messaging

If you don't want to block your employees from using text messaging and you don't want to sign your employees up for a text plan, there are some other ways to cut your text messaging costs.   One way to save is to use e-mail to text: ATT and Sprint  offer e-mail to text gateways that let users send a message via e-mail to a mobile user. Usually the address is just the person's 10 digit phone number before the @ sign. For example, if you are e-mailing an ATT mobile device, you would type in the phone number @txt.att.net from your computer. This saves money for the sender, and only the recipent pays.  It is important to check with your provider first to make sure they offer this service and that it is free of charge.

Sprint has a new service called "ZipWhip" that allows you to text anyone anywhere from your computer at no charge.  With this great new tool, you can now send your text messages online from your computer and even talk to everybody at one time. If you step away from your computer, Zipwhip lets you send messages to your phone. You don't have to be tethered to your mobile phone anymore. Many companies are now using ZipWhip to get out information to their workers at no cost. To try it out simply log in to your Sprint account online and look for the zipwhip icon on the right.

Use your carrier's Web site: While Verizon has passed on offering their customers any type of free text messaging service, other wireless carriers provide the ability to send a text message from their homepage. For example, Nextel (part of Sprint) has long provided this service so that outsiders can easily contact their subscribers.

Use Instant Messages to text: Most of the instant message services have an IM to text gateway that works similarly to that of e-mail. To use this via AOL AIM, for example, just type in the "+1" prefix to the regular 10-digit phone number as the contact's username, and it should send the IM as a text message. Again, this saves money for the sender, not the recipient.

There are other online services that allow you to send free text messages to any cell phone using your computer.  OnlineTextMessage.com is one of those services that allows free text messaging. You can send free SMS text messages to anyone at no charge. You no longer have to pay to send quick SMS or text messages as long as you have access to the Internet. All major carriers are supported: Verizon, ATT, TMobile, Sprint, and Nextel.
