Can I connect my computer with VGA output to an HDTV?
I have a vga output I would like to connect to an HDTV via a DVI Female to HD15 VGA Male Video Adapter and then plug that into a DVI to HDMI cable into the tv's HDMI input. I think I have the proper resolution for the TV, but nothing happens. Do I need a special driver? I have an ATI x1400 card.
VGA is an analog signal and the DVI is analog (DVI-A). You will not be able to convert DVI-A to HDMI. HDMI is pure digital. They do make conversion boxes so you can do directly from VGA to HDMI, but they're expensive.
My suggestion is VGA to VGA (assuming you have a VGA port on your TV). You can also go VGA to component, VGA to S-video or VGA to composite.
