Which of the following will NOT help an arctic mammal to survive cold temperatures?
A Thick fur coat
B Thick layer of fat beneath the skin
C Small extremities such as ears
D A large surface area:volume ratio(1)
this is my science homework i would really appreciate it if someone could help me!?!?!?! thank You xx xxx
Its D because:
thick fur coat will keep it warm by stopping heat loss
the fat will act as an insulator the same as fur
the small ears etc will mean body parts are not kept away from the main body heat.
large suface area means more of the body is on the outside and can be attacked by the cold/wind.
