Google has a list published of the parties with which it cooperates to 'devices to design and develop an exceptional user experience. " Figure on the list the names of, among others, Acer, Asus, HP, Lenovo, Hewlett-Packard, Qualcomm and Texas Instruments. That Google has at least some large manufacturers of netbooks and PCs and ARM cpu's on board.
Adobe also that as a developer of web applications and other techniques to online versions of its graphics software works, is on the list. The major absentee is Dell, while that company allegedly already experimenting with Android on netbooks. Probably, the list of Google not yet final and will over time more companies with Chrome OS involved.
The search giant has confirmed that Chrome OS is free. "Google, the evolution of computers and operating systems in a speed up in the same way as the company wanted to accelerate development of browsers with Chrome browser," said a Google spokesman in The Financial Times. The goal does not seem primarily to Windows crowd, but an alternative to that web applications and services faster and more efficiently to the user, which Google can benefit.
It is therefore rather small light systems, such as Splashtop, which should be concerned. The ceo of DeviceVM, the maker of Splashtop, however, thinks otherwise: "At the end of 2010, more than 150 million desktop, nettop, netbook and notebook users to have Splashtop. Google's arrival on the market will accelerate this trend, and help to bring instant-on computers to make the standard. "
Acer and ASUS are the no. 1 and no. 2 netbook manufacturers worldwide. HP and Lenovo are also large netbook manufacturers. Freescale, Qualcomm and Texas Instruments are chip companies that Google is likely working with to ensure a good user experience. What I'd really like to know is if Google is working with these or any other partners to release products off the ARM or Atom processors. A desktop or even dual core laptop running Chrome OS would be a compelling device too.
